Wave can be taught after you have taught you’re your dog to shake or give it‘s paw. This is an adorable trick for your dog to learn.

Tell your dog to sit and to shake wave (if you used give your paw then it’s give your paw wave). Now, instead of reaching for your dogs paw, lift your hand a little higher so your dog must lift his foot up to reach your hand. Don’t let your dog put his paw in your hand. Pull back your hand. Praise your dog for trying to put his paw in your hand. At this point your dog will be very confused, but it’s okay.

Do it again saying shake wave. Hold your hand higher than you would for give your paw, and don’t let him put his paw in it. Just you don’t want to hold your hand too high, or he won’t even try.

After you have done this a couple of times you can start dropping the shake, and just say wave. Remember to always keep your training sessions fun for your dog.

This is a simple trick to teach which later can be used as a base to teach your dog to wave bye bye.

Simply say give your paw or shake (which ever you prefer) and take your dogs paw. Praise your dog and give your dog it’s favorite treat. Repeat this step a couple times. You dog will eventually get it and start raising his paw after you say give your paw before you reach for it. Give your dog lots of praise. Stop training for the day and reward your dog for being such a good dog. Keeping your training sessions short and fun for your dog is very important.

For the next training lesson say give your paw and hold out your hand. If your dog remembers your dog will put his paw in your hand. Give your dog lot and lots of praise. If your dog doesn’t remember, back up to the last step, pick up his paw for him a couple of times. Soon your dog will catch on and place it’s paw in your hand.

You can also add some variety to this trick by teaching your dog to give either the right or left paw on command. You can do this by using the same technique you used for teaching give your paw. You could say give me your right paw and pick up the dog’s right paw, or repeat the same for the left paw. Always give your dog lots of praise and keep your training sessions short and always make it fun for your dog.

Training sessions should always be held in a safe area free of any distractions. After your dog has the commands down pat every time, try moving the sessions to a park so he will eventually learn to follow your commands despite any distractions that are around.

Only concentrate on one new trick per week. Once you start training your dog to do tricks, you will need to practice the new trick for fifteen minutes every day. Dog training is not for a lazy person. Always remember to make it fun for your dog with lots and lots of praise.

Once your dog learns a new trick you will be able to add a second trick, once you do that, practice both every day. It won’t take long for your dog to forget these new things if you don’t keep practicing the tricks on a regular basis.

Every dog learns at their own pace, so don’t get discouraged if you find you need to practice each trick for two weeks instead of one. This is a process that has to go at your dogs pace.

Your dog will quickly do what you want once he understands what it is you want him to do, because your dog wants to make you happy and please you. The way for your dog to understand what you want is praise and plenty of it. Praise him every single time he does it, even when you have to put his body in the right position or even when he did the right thing on accident.

Teaching your dog some fun tricks will entertain you both and certainly amuse friends and family. Before trying to teach your dog tricks make sure your pooch is ble to perform all of the basics like sitting, staying, lying down, and come.

All commands you give your dog must be enforced. In the beginning, each command will always be given at the same time that you literally put his body into the position that you want. Once you think he knows the command, try it with the verbal command alone ONLY ONCE. Always remember if you have to give a command a second time, it should always be done at the same time that you physically put him into the position you want. Otherwise, he will think that he can either obey or not. Which is not what you want.

Before you begin you will have to decide what you will use for motivation. You can use treats or very enthusiastic praise, remember both are very motivational for your dog.

Keeping the training sessions fun for you dog will ensure your dog looks forward to the training. An enthusiastic student learns fast. http://muffysmom.ecrater.com/
